As if you needed another reason to hate the gym, it now turns out that exercise can exhaust not only your muscles, but also your eyes. Fear not, however, for coffee can perk them right up again. During vigorous exercise, our muscles tire as they run out of fuel and build up waste products. Muscle performance can also be affected byaphenomenon called “central fatigue,” in which an imbalance in the body’s chemical messengers prevents the central nervous system from directing muscle movements effectively. It was not known, however, whether central fatigue might also affect motor systems not directly involved in the exercise itself—such as those that move the eyes. To find out, researchers gave 11 volunteers a carbohydrate solutioneither with a moderate dose of caffeine—which is known to stimulate the central nervous system—or as a placebo without, during 3 hours of cycling. After exercising, the scientists tested the cyclists with eye-tracking cameras to see how well their brains could still control their visual system. The team found that exercise reduced the speed of rapid eye movements by about 8%, preventing their ability to capture new visual information. The caffeine—the equivalent of two strong cups of coffee—wassufficient to counteract this effect, with some cyclists even displaying increased eye movement speeds, the team reports today in Scientific Reports. So it might be a good idea to get someone else to drive you home after that marathon.

It is exciting to visit different places. As we travel, we will see beautiful sceneries typical of the region, meet and make friends with different people and get to know the custom of the local people. Today people are so fond of traveling that tourism has become one of the fastest growing industries in most countries.

The main reason why people travel is, perhaps, for pleasure. For example, having worked hard throughout the weekdays, people will find a weekend trip to the nearby mountains or beaches a real relaxation. For another example, spending an annual holiday traveling abroad is an especially satisfying experience for those who do not have much opportunity to go abroad. When people return from their travel, they will generally feel fresh and energetic, ready to work harder. Another reason is for learning. We may have read or heard about something but we can never get a deep understanding of it until we see it for ourselves.

In my opinion, the biggest advantage of traveling is we can learn much during our travel about the geography, biology, and history of the places we visit. Therefore, we’d better make use of every chance to travel so as to gain something meaningful.

With the development of the Internet and the popularization of computers, shopping on the Internet has become a commonplace in our life. Here consumers can buy almost everything they need.

Shopping on the Internet has a lot of advantages, of which the most important is perhaps its convenience. People don't have to waste a lot of their energy and precious time to go from one shop to another to choose the commodities they like. This is especially desirable to the old, the sick and the busy people who cannot go to the shops in person. All they need to do is to sit in front of their computers and click the mousses. The commodities they order will be delivered to them promptly.

Everything has two sides, shopping online is not the exception. Shopping on the Internet also has its disadvantages. The first disadvantage is that the consumers can't see the goods or try them on personally. The second disadvantage is that some shops on the Internet are not registered. They will never deliver anything to you after they get the money from you. Once cheated, you will find that you have nowhere to go to complain.

Suppose you are asked to give advice on whether to attend college at home or abroad, write an essay to state your opinion. You are required to write at least 150 words but no more than 200 words.

Living in a world which is full of changes and challenges,we are confronted with new problems every single day. Of all the  issues, one might disturb the  students the most, and it is if we have two options: to attend college at home or abroad. As for me, I prefer to choose the latter.

Why ,you may wonder , should I would like to study abroad ? The reasons responsible for  it can be listed as follows.

Among the most important reasons cited by people is that to study abroad, directly or indirectly, can not only broaden our eyes and enrich our life experience, which is of great importance in one’s growth.

What’s more,to attend college abroad can give us an independent personality and more globalized vision towards the world,  if it were not for those two attributes, how could we achieve great goals in this dog-eat-dog world .

Above all, in such a society where emphasis, more often than not , is laid on quality of education and information, to study abroad , if we had the chance, must be a good choice.

To study abroad, so at least it seems to me, is preferable for those who have the ability to afford the fees, in the process of which we will develop an innovative thought mode .

As a proverb goes, there is no difficulty that an innovative thought mode can not solve, no door that an innovative thought mode can not open, no mountain that an innovative thought mode can not surmount.

The Song dynasty began from 960 and ended in 1279. During the period, China had witnessed huge growth in the economy, making it the most advanced economy in the world. Science and technology, philosophy and mathematics also flourished at that time. In the Song dynasty, China was the first country in the world to issue paper money, use gunpowder and invent movable-type printing. With rapidly increasing population, more and more people moved into the city, in which entertainment venues were very busy. People could enjoy various social life, getting together to appreciate and trade precious artworks. The Song dynasty also enjoyed an advanced government system in the world. All of the government officials were selected and appointed through the competitive examination.

The Tang dynasty, which began in 618 and ended in 907, is generally regarded as the most prosperous period in Chinese history. After three hundred years of development, the Tang Dynasty has become the most prosperous power around the world. Its capital Chang’an was the largest city in the world at that time. During this period, economy developed, commerce thrived, social order was stable, and even the border was open to the outside. Wealth increased due to urbanization, art and literature also flourished. Li Bai and Du Fu are poets who are renowned for their simple and natural writing style. Their poems touched the hearts of scholars and ordinary people; even today, many of their poems are still widely read and recited by children and adults.
